Puzzles, photos and team spirit: Our city rally through Würzburg

For our team event, we chose the city rally by TeamEscape Würzburg. The concept is simple: each team gets a tablet showing the map, the tasks and the current score. You use it to navigate to specific spots in the city center where the next puzzles are waiting.

We competed against each other in teams of three in battle mode. We had around 1.5 hours to collect as many points as possible. Our route took us to Würzburg Cathedral, the Neumünster with its striking red facade and the Würzburg Residence, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Even colleagues who know Würzburg well discovered corners they usually just walk past.

The tasks were varied and called on very different strengths within our teams. Sometimes logical thinking was needed, other times creativity and a good sense of humor.

Tricky puzzles at well-known spots

Different types of challenges awaited us at each station: picture puzzles, number puzzles and also word puzzles. Many of them could only be solved by looking closely and spotting details on site. It quickly became clear how valuable it is when everyone on the team sees things from a different angle.

Creative photo challenges

Between the puzzles, the photo challenges brought plenty of laughs. We took animal photos, acted out emojis and recreated famous movie scenes right in the middle of the city. Anyone willing to step out of their comfort zone could earn extra points for their team.

Dorfkinder, A-Team and Schlappen: Teamwork in competition

Things got creative right from the start with the team names: the Dorfkinder (village kids), the A-Team and the Schlappen (slippers) took to the streets. Each team had its own strategy. Some focused on the puzzles, while others went all in on the photo challenges.

That's exactly what makes this format so exciting for us: in small groups, everyone has to pitch in. You divide up tasks, discuss solutions and make quick decisions together. These are skills we rely on every day in our e-commerce projects, too.

A relaxed evening at the Weinstuben Juliusspital

After all that walking and brainwork, we had earned a good meal. We wrapped up the day at the Weinstuben Juliusspital, one of the most traditional venues in Würzburg. Over Franconian cuisine and a good glass of wine, we looked back on the highlights of the rally and celebrated the best photos.
