The Zweirad-Einkaufs-Genossenschaft, or ZEG for short, headquartered in Cologne, Germany, is a purchasing association with a network of over 1,000 independent specialist bicycle dealers throughout Europe. Thanks to centralized purchasing, with a 60,000sqm central warehouse and over 140 employees, ZEG stands for personal advice, the highest service quality and the best possible prices.

Mission
ZEG planned to replace its outdated individual PIM tool with a future-proof standard solution. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the room was very clean. We were able to convince ZEG of the Akeneo Enterprise Edition as an on-premise variant. ZEG also wanted to use a digital asset management solution to manage its product images. Due to the excellent integration with the Akeneo PIM, the choice fell on our TESSA DAM.

Challenge
One of the biggest challenges in the project was the integration of the new PIM and DAM solution into the existing system landscape. Due to the many interconnected systems, processes and requirements, this is very complex. In addition, we had to make extensive adjustments to the data model so that individual descriptions are possible for each specialist retailer.
Solution
Due to the customization requirements in the PIM, Akeneo in the Enterprise Edition was chosen as an on-premise variant. The software is hosted and supported by us. We are available to ZEG for all support requests. The PIM for ZEG was enhanced by us with the extensions "Tree View" and "Text Template" for special use cases. In addition, we implemented our Excel Importer for easier product creation and our XML Importer for data exchange from ZEG's inventory management system with Akeneo. Our OSKAR middleware ensures data transfer to other connected systems of the customer.
Furthermore, we continuously support ZEG in optimizing data provision and data preparation. In this way, we were able to achieve a significant increase in data quality. In addition, our support in process optimization has resulted in a 75% reduction in time-to-market.
