The Fahrrad XXL Group sells bikes and accessories from well-known top manufacturers as well as in-house exclusive brands in 15 gigantic bike stores throughout Germany. The individual stores can look back on decades of experience and tradition. Since 2012, the company's own online store "Fahrrad-XXL.de " has supplemented the product range. The online store includes the largest selection of bicycles in the whole of Germany. In addition, the range of bicycle accessories such as helmets, lighting, tools and spare parts is constantly being expanded.

Fahrrad XXL planned to replace its current system for managing product data. The existing PIM tool was custom built for the customer. In order to be more future-proof in the area of product data management, the company wanted to introduce a SaaS product solution. The choice fell on the Akeneo PIM in the variant Serenity EE. We were commissioned as the PIM consulting agency for the product introduction.

The biggest challenge in the project was to implement the system according to the specified schedule. This was tightly defined by the customer with regard to the project scope. The requirement was less than half a year. In order to achieve this, the customer had to be given targeted advice on its existing workflows, among other things. For our part, these were adapted to the new PIM solution in a targeted manner.


The customer Fahrrad XXL received constant technical advice and concrete doing support from our PIM consulting team during the live go-live of the Akeneo PIM. We supported the initial data import to Akeneo and took over the complete data modeling. Here we specifically built the data models, created attributes and imported product images via interface. We also took care of the configuration of the reference entities and configured the rules engine for the customer. In the future, images and attributes will be assigned automatically during import. During the weekly coordination meetings, defined milestones in the project, very good technical expertise and a defined process for quality control, the project was successfully completed. Even after going live, we will continue to be available to the customer for all his questions about product data and Akeneo and so want to continuously develop the PIM.
